Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment using new attachments. They can also increase its base stats or add additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.
Usually objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas items with strong bases like Eth titans don't change much in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus or extra effect, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will have to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the necessary material or component needed for the upgrade to take place.
There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. item upgrade are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are exactly the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding an Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would make it a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces the glyphs by a different one the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some important differences from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades is increased with each level however, the materials needed do not increase as much. This allows players to focus their efforts on a few important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several items.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy, and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
After a piece has been upgraded to its maximum level, it can receive affixes to boost its attributes. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.
Each upgrade will require an amount of Flightstones and crests, depending on the item's current level and the slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.
If an item fails to reach its maximum level, the NPC offers players the option to transfer it to a new character and re-infuse the item with a different set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However it has a lower success rate.
Engineers may employ a level to measure the height of the building to an established point, such as the benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other attributes. This can be done through the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.
The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire tokens for rerolls. These tokens can then be used to upgrade the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled depends on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item.
Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. This included stats like armor's total armour, thorns and the control impaired duration stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and crit strike chance.
This has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes were removed, and all upgrades have the identical chance of rolling each stat. This can be a good or a negative thing dependent on your needs and wants from your equipment.
Each upgraded item could come with a unique fixed-value, fixed-value benefit that increases its power by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added in addition to the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the higher your chance of obtaining a unique bonus.
The game also comes with number sets that grant the player a bonus if three or four upgraded items from the set are placed on an unit. This is an excellent way to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending lots of money.
Many players prefer to reroll their gear and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character faster, which allows you to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be arranged in different ways. They could be of various dimensions, have no elements, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or to sort information. They also aid in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom offers a wide range of upgradeable set items. Some are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in improving stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have many weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include specific procs that are useful for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the items required to upgrade it. This will display the item's characteristics, as well as the required items to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.
In general, weapons and armor have higher value when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have spell/weapon damage glyphs upgrading them to gold is recommended as it will result in a significant increase in their power. The armor that has a new appearance will benefit from this upgrade, since its defense value will increase when it goes from purple to gold.
